GLOSSARY
Some terms used to describe fireworks. |
BARRAGE
A number of Roman Candles fired from a single ignition
point, usually contained in a Cardboard Tube. |
BATTERY
A number of Roman Candles fired from a single ignition point, usually
attached to a stake. |
PYRAMID
Three Roman Candles usually on a Wooden Frame.

MINE
Consists of a stout tube with a delay fuse, producing a shower of
stars, which are fired high into the air. |
SET
PIECE
Consists of a frame with various Fireworks attached to it to give
static or revolving patterns. |
PORTFIRE
A tube which, when lit gives a flame (unaffected by wind) used to
light the various types of firework. Port fires should always be attached
to a port fire holder so that the operator is at a safe distance when
lighting the fireworks. |
DELAY
FUSE
All fireworks have some form of delay which, when lit enable the firer
to stand clear. In larger items the Delay burns for 5 to 15 seconds. |
WHEEL
DEVICES
Wheel devices, which rotate, must be securely fixed to
the posts so that they are allowed to rotate freely. Nails or bolts
are sent in the cases for this purpose. Please ensure that after fixing
the devices can be Rotated freely. |
ROCKETS
Rockets should be launched from a rocket frame or tube. After loading
rockets into the launch the spare Rockets should be placed in a box
underneath a sack or tarpaulin pointing away from the audience. Some
Rockets come with the sticks packed separately, assemble the in advance,
making sure that the stick is pushed fully home into the socket. |
